From 2020 onward, compositions started to become less complicated in Meike van Riel's work. During the process, she allocated fewer different colors in tandem on the canvas. In the "simple ones," it is observed that van Riel made a change in the direction of her new appeal. As of 2023, simplicity is central to the artworks.
