Original artwork description

The painting depicts the Roman sea god Neptune as he moves and struggles among elements unfamiliar to him, such as woolen drapes and rocks against an all-red background. A visual oxymoron that breaks with the traditional iconography of the Neptune myth. The work is created using traditional techniques on jute canvas.
The piece is part of the Myths series, consisting of 19 works including sculptures, paintings, and murals.
