Images that carry meaning
Symbolic sculpture works with signs: a key, a bird, a scale, an empty chair can say more than a whole paragraph. Sculptures with symbolism for sale appear mostly in mixed media, where objects and meaning come together.
Unlike purely formal sculpture, things here act as messengers: a door stands for transition, a staircase for ascent, a hand for support. Some works stay open and allow several readings, others lean on familiar motifs from art, myth or daily life.

Materials as signs
In mixed media a rusty find, a shard of glass or a scrap of cloth can itself become a symbol. The combination creates layers: you recognize the object, sense the story and read the intention. That is why a long look pays off.
Placing and reading
Symbolic works need closeness. A spot at eye level, subdued light and a calm background help. Ask for a description of the materials and, where possible, for notes on the idea behind the work.
