Line becomes body
Comic sculpture lifts figures off the page into the room and gives them volume, weight and surface. Sculptures in the comic vein for sale appear mostly in mixed media, colorful, often with glossy lacquer.
The black outline, the loud planes, the exaggerated expressions: what is natural on paper has to be reinvented in sculpture. Some works keep the contour as a painted line, others translate it into edges and ridges. Humor usually survives, often with a critical undertone.

Material and effect
In mixed media plastic, resin, lacquer and found objects come together. Smooth shells and intense colors make the figure work from a distance. Against white walls or on dark wood the tones come out most clearly.
To keep in mind
Lacquered surfaces scratch easily, plastics can yellow. Plan a spot without direct sun and without heat. Ask about weight, fixing and care notes, so the figure stays as fresh as it arrived.
