Originals in this selection, Rubber, 1,000 to 2,000 euro.

Formats from 23 x 50 to 42.5 x 57.5 cm.

Soft, elastic and surprisingly exact

Rubber gives under your thumb and springs back, something stone and metal never do. Anyone looking at rubber sculptures for sale in the 1,000 to 2,000 euro range will meet surfaces that read as velvety matte one moment and wet-looking gloss the next.

Rubber sculptures often start from silicone molds, latex or cut sheets. That allows detail wood rarely holds: fine pores, deep folds, crisp edges. Pigment is mixed into the mass, so the color lives inside the material rather than on top of it. At this price level, tabletop objects and mid-sized wall forms are common, often as abstract shapes or as statues that unsettle precisely because they look soft.

Placement, light and care

Rubber ages differently from stone. Strong sun and dry radiator air make it brittle over the years, and solvents attack the surface. A shelf or a wall without midday light keeps the shape stable for a long time, and a damp cloth is enough for dusting. Ask in the listing which rubber was used, whether there is a frame inside, and whether the piece is meant to stand, lie or hang.
