Posture over anatomy

An abstracted statue drops the face, the hands and the folds, and keeps the tension of a body: a lean, a straightening, a gathering in. The neck becomes a line, the shoulder an edge. This often feels calmer than a naturalistic figure and leaves more room for your own reading.

Placement and light
Tall figures need air above them and a quiet background, otherwise the contour blurs. A light wall behind a dark figure, or the reverse, draws the silhouette cleanly. A spot from above and slightly to the side models the surfaces.
Check the footing
Slim figures stand on a small base. Look in the listing for the plinth plate, weight and material, and avoid a wobbly dresser or any spot where children or pets run past.
