Wiping, pressing, pulling
An Impressionist monotype looks like a watercolor that has gone through the press: soft, light, and never quite repeatable. Impressionist monotypes are for sale here as single sheets with plenty of light.
Paint is smeared on the plate, lightened with a rag, and spread by hand. In the pull a delicate veil remains that leaves the paper room. That creates the impression of haze, sun, and moving air.

Hang it bright
Monotypes of this kind live on brightness. A wall with plenty of daylight and a slim light frame bring out the delicacy. Dark rooms easily take the effect from such sheets, and here artificial light in a warm tone helps.
One sheet, one copy
Since every monotype is single, there is no edition number on the sheet. Look for signature, year, and title, and ask about paper and measurements. If you wish to work with darker tones, you will find related work in charcoal or in the range under 500 euro.
