Photorealism in photography means sharpness that shows every hair, every pore and every tile joint. If you want to buy photorealistic pictures, some are for sale under 500 euro.
Here resolution decides: sharp lenses, clean lighting, controlled depth of field. Faces, surfaces and materials are rendered with detail into the darkest shadow. The picture wants to hide nothing. A good test is the detail in the dark areas, because that shows whether the capture is truly clean down into the shadows.

Size and distance
Realistic details only show up close. Hang such works where you can step near, for example in a hallway or study. A restrained frame and museum glass give the details room.
Technical questions before buying
Ask about image size, file resolution and the printing process, since razor-sharp motifs reveal weaknesses in printing at once. Whether black and white or color, both call for clean paper and an exact description.
