Grays instead of color effects
Take away color and a picture is left with light, shadow and structure, which is exactly what gives it weight. Black-and-white photography is for sale, starting under 500 euro and reaching up to large editions.
Without color, nothing distracts from the motif. The eye follows lines, edges and surfaces, and the fineness of the steps between deep black and paper white decides the effect. A good print shows detail in the shadows without blowing out the bright spots.

Hanging and lighting well
Black-and-white pictures suit almost any room because they dictate no color. With a white mat and a slim frame they look classic, with a wide black border severe. Soft side light brings out the surface structure especially well.
