Traces of haste
Gestural works on paper between 500 and 1,000 euro capture movement: swing, spatter, smear. You can find expressive paintings on paper from 500 to 1,000 euro for sale here if you value energy.
On paper, gestural work is often painted standing, with sweeping arm movements. Drops, runs and brush bristles remain visible. Paper bears this well if it is heavy enough, and it takes ink, acrylic and charcoal equally gratefully.

Framing with feel
Gestural sheets need space. A wide mat lets the energy breathe, a slim frame in dark wood contains it. With especially large formats, a frame without a mat can also work stronger.
Condition and technique
Inquire about drying time, fixing and any coating. Thick paint can deform with temperature swings. Do not hang the work above a radiator. A neutral wall color and side light bring out the structure of the gestural traces best.
