Sharpness in washes
Watercolor and pencil in photorealism are an unusual pair: the water brings color, the lead brings sharpness. You can find photorealistic watercolors with pencil for sale here if you look for fine craft in soft tones.

When it shimmers
Graphite has a slight sheen and reacts to light. Hang the piece so light falls from the side, then fine shimmering lines appear in the shadows. Behind non-reflective glass the color stays clear.
Checking the paper
Especially with photorealistic sheets, the paper decides: heavy enough, acid-free, with a fine grain. Ask about type and weight. As a yardstick for a first original, smaller formats are worth a look.
