Glaze after glaze
Oil paint stays workable for days, and surrealist painters use that to blend skin, metal and fog with an almost photographic softness. If you want oil surrealism paintings over 10,000 euro for sale, look closely at how the layers are built.

Presence in a room
Paintings in this price class can carry a wall alone. Soft side light shows the modeling best, while direct spotlights may reflect off the varnish. Plan some empty space around the piece, because the riddles in the picture need quiet to work.
What to look for
Ask about the support, the varnish and the condition of the edges. A good description gives size, year and medium precisely enough that you can identify the original later without doubt.
