A surface that takes chalk
Abstract oil pastel on acrylic and canvas is color with weight: a stretched ground and a chalk that paints above it. Paintings of this kind are for sale here, in formats from restrained to room-filling.
On canvas, acrylic forms a dry, grippy layer. Oil pastel stays well on it, whether as plane, hatching or scratch mark. The structure of the weave shows through the chalk and gives every line a fine unrest.

Notes for buying
Abstract pictures are hard to describe, which makes details on ground, dimensions and protection count twice. Ask about the depth of the stretcher and the condition of the corners. A back with signature and date documents the work.
Hanging and lighting
A picture of this kind needs no frame but a place without friction. Raking light from a wall lamp shows relief and grain. If you prefer glass, choose a deep frame with air between pane and picture.
