Weave under the paint
On canvas a photorealistic oil painting gets a fine weave that gives the motif some warmth. If you want photorealistic oil on canvas for sale, start by looking at how the ground was prepared.
For fine detail, canvas is primed carefully and often sanded so the grain does not interfere. The smoother the ground, the sharper hairs, reflections and water drops can be painted. A coarse weave would soften every line. If sharpness matters to you, ask for detail shots from the center of the picture.

Wall spot and light
A smooth oil skin can shine. Avoid hanging such a picture opposite a window, or reflections will overlay the motif. Gentle raking light from a wall lamp shows depth without glare. The depth of the shadows also reveals whether many layers lie on top of each other.
Size and stretcher
Write down width, height and depth of the stretcher. A work without a frame often finishes with painted side edges, so it can also hang as it is. Ask whether a varnish was applied.
