Lean first, then fat
When a description names oil on canvas and acrylic as the material, it usually means a build: quick acrylic layers as the base, slow-drying oil paint on top. If you are looking for such paintings for sale between 2,000 and 5,000 euro, it helps to understand that layering.
Acrylic dries fast and forms a firm skin that oil paint grips well. Painters use this for underpainting, texture and tones that oil covers later. The reverse, acrylic over oil, does not hold permanently. This build has long been known in painting and is very stable when done carefully, as long as the layers were applied in the proper order.

Gloss and depth
The oil layer brings luminosity and soft transitions that pure acrylic rarely reaches. Lamplight creates glossy spots, so the picture hangs best at an angle to the window. A frame with a little air around the picture protects the surface.
Questions before you buy
Ask whether and when it was varnished, since oil paint needs months to dry through. In the 2,000 to 5,000 euro band, detailed material notes are normal for originals, and questions are welcome.
