How stone gets into the canvas
Acrylic on canvas with stone is a mix of lightness and substance that fits well into daily living. Here you can find acrylic-on-canvas paintings with natural stone for sale in which grain and color work together.
The artist scatters stone dust into still-wet acrylic gel, mixes grit into the paint or glues on thin pieces of slate. The canvas carries it all without sagging, provided the stretcher is sturdy. The result is a surface you can almost read in raking light like a map.

The range runs from quiet to loud. Those seeking order should look at Geometry or Minimalism, those who like imagined worlds at Metaphysical. Each of these pictures needs space so the grain can work.
