Originals in this selection, Symbolism, Material Watercolor, 500 to 1,000 euro.
Condensed signs
Symbolist watercolor from 500 to 1,000 euro condenses meaning into fine color transitions. If you want symbolist watercolors in this price tier for sale, you will find sheets on which signs and figures stand in twilight.
On a medium format, symbols get space: a staircase, a mirror, an animal as messenger. The watercolor holds them in suspension, because its edges never turn fully sharp. Several glazes give depth without making the picture heavy. A window leading into the dark, or a moon over water, are typical images.

Quiet presence
Such works need no grand entrance. A place on a calm wall, with subdued light and some distance from other pictures, lets them work. Leave space all around so the mood is not disturbed by neighbors.
Before buying
Check that the paper is heavy and acid-free. A sheet of this size should hang framed under glass, ideally with a spacer. A cream-white mat feels warmer than pure white.
