Signs with depth
Symbolism condenses thought into signs, and a nib is the ideal tool for it: it does not paint a feeling, it writes it down. Symbolic mixed media pen and ink is for sale if you look for pictures that start conversations.
A bird, a tree, a stair: in Symbolism, things stand for ideas such as farewell, growth or ascent. Ink produces sharply outlined motifs, which mixed media charges with meaning through gold, watercolor or glued paper. Those who collect Symbolism read a sheet several times and keep finding new connections.

Room for interpretation
Such pieces need a wall where they do not get lost, but not a stage. A calm tone around them is enough. Prices start with works under 500 euro, and if you like pure line, look under Drawing. Note dimensions, paper and the lightfastness of the ink used.
Order in the picture
Symbolic sheets are often strictly composed: center, axis, border shape. That helps when hanging, because they cope with little surrounding. A spot in the middle of an open wall emphasizes the symmetry.
