Feeling in the material
Expressionism wants to make feeling visible, not depict reality. You can find expressionist mixed media for sale from 1,000 to 2,000 euro here, with acrylic and photo as well as the classic combination of material and paint.
The expressionist impulse demands strong colors, hard contours, distorted forms. Mixed media adds another layer: when a paper tear breaks the form or a photo breaks into the paint, tension is not painted but built.

Effect from a distance
Expressionist pictures work with force and carry far. A stretch of wall you pass by chance suits them: they register in the corner of the eye before you stand in front of them. Dark wall colors strengthen luminosity.
Notes for buying
At this level, works often show multilayered builds. Ask about drying, varnish and hanging, especially with thick areas of application. Whether the work is signed and dated on the back helps with later attribution.
