Feeling over print
Expressionism gives photography what it lacks on its own: anger, tenderness, exaggeration. You can find expressionist mixed media with photo for sale here if you want pictures in which color and line react to photography.
Over a portrait or a landscape, the artist lays garish color fields, hard strokes and charcoal black. The photo remains recognizable but not neutral: it gets interpreted. The original often shows what pictures lack: ridges of paint, charcoal grain, glossy and matte zones side by side. The photo becomes a stage on which the artist sets mood against likeness.

The technique leads to mixed media, and on price 1,000 to 2,000 euro often comes up. Ask about paper, support and overpainting: whether acrylic, oil or ink is used affects care and durability.
