No dogma, many means
Modern art breaks with convention and seeks its own forms for color, surface and material. You can find modern mixed media for sale from 1,000 to 2,000 euro here, for example with acrylic, photo and marker in one work.
Modern mixed media is a field of experiment: a picture can join everything from color fields to collage scraps as long as the composition holds. The modern lies less in the motif than in the attitude of treating material as an equal design tool.

Present in the room
Clear walls, sparing framing and well-placed light suit modern works. They fit living rooms and offices as well as hallways and lofts. Format decides the effect: large works like a window, small like a thought.
What to check before buying
Mixed media with photography calls for particularly lightfast materials, otherwise the photographic part fades. Also ask whether the photo is part of a one-off or comes from an edition, and how it was fixed to the support.
