Stroke, smudge, remainder
The charcoal stroke is as old as cave painting, and it still looks fresh. Mixed media drawings with charcoal are for sale here for readers who like sketchiness, smudge traces and additions from other materials.
Charcoal allows a wide spectrum: hairline marks with sharpened sticks, broad shadows with the side of the stick, tone fields with the heel of the hand. In mixed technique, color, scraps of paper or wax add a second layer to the sheet. Small studies, large-format nudes, landscape notes: charcoal takes any size, and a quick, untidy stroke is exactly what gives it charm. A sheet is also quick to decide on, since it needs no explanation.

Hanging and combining
Black and white drawings combine easily with other works because they do not disturb color. They serve as a counterweight to colorful paintings or as a calm accent in a room full of furniture. For beginners, sheets under 500 euro are an option; for especially precise pieces, photorealism.
Notes
Charcoal needs protection. Ask how the fixing was done, choose glass with a gap, and do not store the sheet in damp rooms.
