Light and wall
Surreal pictures like directed, softened light that casts shadows without swallowing details. A dark wall makes colors glow, a light wall makes the picture sober. Either can be appealing, depending on whether the scene should carry calm or tension.
To check before buying
With mixed media containing objects, look at how things are attached: glued, sewn or cast in? Ask about the weight of the framed work and whether varnish was applied. The clearer the details, the easier it is to plan the hanging.
