Painting without detours

The brush goes straight onto the sheet, often with broad strokes and little thinning. Where paint meets paste, ridges and cracks appear. Mixed technique adds charcoal, pastel or ink, which makes the surface seem deeper than it is.

Effect on the wall
Strong tones carry far. Do not hang the piece too high, and leave space around it so it does not feel overloaded. A white or gray wall lets red, blue and yellow show their weight. When you see the work framed, look at the edges, since they often reveal how fast and with what gesture the painting was made. A mat with a narrow border leaves those traces free. A floating mount is another way to show them.
What to watch for
With thick layers on paper, a deep frame with a spacer is advisable so nothing touches the glass. Ask about paper weight and substrate before ordering frame and mat.
