Weeks for one surface
At the highest level of detail, the paper vanishes beneath a world of light, shadow and surface. You can buy photorealistic graphite drawings for sale from 1,000 to 2,000 euro when you want a sheet that is not just seen but studied.
Whether glass with water drops, leather with creases or a face with fine hairs: such subjects take time, often weeks. Graphite offers the control needed. A pencil can be sharpened so fine that single hairs or fibers become visible. That is skill you can see on the wall.

Making close viewing possible
Such sheets need a room where you can step up close, with light from the side or above but without glare. Non-reflective glass and a neutral frame in white or black keep the eye inside the picture. Between viewings the sheet is allowed to rest: look at it again after a few weeks and you will usually find a detail in the fine highlights that escaped you before.
Documentation
For works with this much effort, signature, dating and certificate are valuable extras. Ask also whether preliminary studies or photos of the process exist, because they make the path to the result easy to follow.
