Large format, dense layers
When graphite is pushed to its limits, you get areas that gleam like brushed metal and lines that run through the picture like threads. You can buy graphite drawings for sale from 1,000 to 2,000 euro here, for example as cubist constructions or photorealistic studies.
At this price level, originals are often large sheets or works that someone sat over for a long time. Graphite is then built up in many layers and burnished until the surface looks almost silky. Dark passages gleam slightly and shift with the viewer’s position.

Hanging as a centerpiece
A sheet of this size may stand alone on a wall. A broad acid-free mat, a solid wood frame and museum glass with UV protection form a calm setting that leaves the graphite its depth. Allow enough distance to the seating area.
Paper and proof
Read in the description which paper was drawn on and whether a certificate of authenticity comes with it. For works with this much effort, it is worth having the framer examine the sheet calmly later and keeping the details of how it was made.
