More format, more experience
In the middle price band, charcoal shows what it holds: larger formats, more depth, surer gestures. You can buy charcoal drawings for sale from 500 to 1,000 euro here, for example as expressive sheets or pure charcoal work.
At this price level originals often look more mature. The sheets are larger, the blacks richer, the transitions smudged with more care. You sense that the artist knows the material and works with chance and control at once. The difference from the lower tier often shows in the courage for surface: more paper means more room for black, grey and the pauses between.

A frame with weight
A sheet in this class deserves a good frame. Oak or walnut, an acid-free mat in white or grey and glass with UV protection form a calm setting for the deep black. The space between paper and pane protects the charcoal.
Authenticity and care
Ask about the signature and the certificate of authenticity. Do not hang the drawing in direct sun, and keep a humidifier away from it.
