Schon zwei (Just two) — I’m nobody. Are you nobody, too? Then there are already two of us.

On loneliness and unexpected common ground. Maybe they don’t know anything about each other. Maybe it doesn’t matter. Two stories unfold at the same time, without ever having to intersect. Each remains on its own, and neither is the only one.

»I’m a nobody. Are you a nobody, too? Then there are already two of us.« — an interpretation in line with the meaning.

What a fascinating contrast to a melancholic reflection. Dickinson transforms the seemingly insignificant into a surprising form of togetherness. Two people, neither of whom wants to be anyone on their own, form a couple, so to speak.
