This oil painting depicts a square, 'la Place de la Viguerie', in Aigues-Mortes a famous medieval city inside its 13th century remparts . At the far end of the square, lined with date palm trees, stands the chapel of the Brotherhood of the Grey Penitents, dating from the 17th century. This work was painted on a linen canvas based on watercolorsmade in-situ . Its completion, using successive glazes (between 6 and 12 layers depending on the opacity of the pigments) took several months due to the drying time required between each layer. This technique creates depth and a great deal of luminosity.
Due to its size, this oil painting does not require framing. The sides of the canvas (approximately 2 cm thick are painted black. It is ready to hang.
