Balcone begins with a close-up view of an urban facade: arches, cornices, classical details that lose their original placement and become pure geometry.
As always, I start from photography. I decompose, simplify, eliminate what is unnecessary until only the lines that matter remain. Then the painting: acrylics mixed with sand, which give the surface that material, granular texture I feel the subject requires.
The palette is quiet but deliberate: sage green, mauve, deep violet, with black entering as void between the volumes. Every arch, every cornice, is a fragment of urban history transformed into something else.
Painted on canvas, ready to hang. Certificate of authenticity included.
