Original artwork description
The concept of red threads has deep roots in philosophy, literature and folk tales.
Baruch Spinoza wrote that, although we believe we are free, we are actually determined by causes we do not understand. Emotions and attachments bind us to people and things. For him, freedom begins when we recognize the threads that move us.
Carl Gustav Jung believed that we are shaped by the Collective Unconscious. Archetypal inheritances, ancestral patterns and symbols, myths act through us. Unfolding own identity requires separating from unconscious bonds. Cutting the thread becomes an act of awareness rather than destruction.
This artwork is a part of collection named Connected, which i invite the viewers to reflect on their own threads: those that connect them to others, to history, to ideology, and to unseen psychological forces. And, maybe, to dertermine their own frame of freedom.
