Floral tondo with yellow roses, oil painting on stretched canvas, 50 cm diameter.
Carried out with a palette knife, in generous strokes, this work is a nod to Rococo and the french Louis XV style, ornamented, light, elegant, Dionysian. This style draws its inspiration from nature, through the use of floral motifs, foliage, curves and arabesques. The ornamentation is the only pretension of this work flowered with yellow roses on a blue grey background. The tondo, here a round canvas on a circular stretcher, originates from the Renaissance, when portraits were painted or sculpted on a round format support.
The painting is signed on the front and on the back.
