Original artwork description
discoCENTRED is of a series of works begun while I worked in the quiet daytime hours of a discotheque. The dance space was my workshop, and at night I stayed on inspired by the dynamism of the venue.
I mean to engage the viewer with a story of their own. My original inspiration becomes less important once the painting is completed.
This painting began with three lines in black wax that concentrate toward the centre.
A dancing interaction, all ‘solidity and gaps’, hopes and feints, and a reaching for the boundaries. The centre is the vital focus where the lines achieve greatest certainty.
