Original artwork description

I worked with natural tones first, then covered them with white, and sanded the surface back again so parts of what was underneath could reappear. That process matters to me. It’s about hiding and revealing at the same time—about how nothing is ever completely lost, even when it’s covered.

The white layer feels calm and quiet, but it isn’t empty. When it’s sanded down, the colors beneath come through softly, almost like memories resurfacing. They don’t return exactly as they were; they come back changed, gentler, filtered by time.

The lines I drew into the white surface look like cracks. For me, they aren’t breaks so much as openings. They suggest pressure, vulnerability, and the marks left by experience. Light enters through those places. What’s underneath finds a way to show itself again.

“Light That Remains” is about what endures after everything has been layered over—after time, restraint, and silence. Even when life feels muted or covered, there is still warmth, depth, and light beneath the surface. And it will always find a way to come through.

This painting has multi layers of acrylic paint on canvas making this artwork textural. The canvas is stretched over professionally made wooden stretcher bars.

The sides are painted so the art work is ready to hang.
