Original artwork description

The sculpture Clan is made with a sliver of Carrara marble. It depicts two hands passing a Paleolithic tool, a double-sided knife from the Acheulean period. The hands are caught in a transitory moment between closing and opening, a suspended time.
The style is expressive, with the signs of the tools used to sculpt it very visible at the bottom, while near the tool, smoother and more refined. Marble hands like the ancient tool that they exchange.
he sculpture is positioned on a piece of carved and shaped olive wood.
The sculpture is part of a new series that focuses on the idea of waste, of rejection. Using marble scraps that were unused because they were amorphous or deemed imperfect. Pieces of marble given a second chance, believing that even waste holds great potential.
The highly symbolic works in this cycle attempt to evoke an ancient, Paleolithic humanity, where only the Clan and the Tribe mattered in relation to Mother Nature and Sister Nature.
