Original artwork description
In “Angel Waiting (Composition 237),” Ovidiu Kloșka opens an interval between the divine within and the divine beyond, a space in which the body becomes an energy field, a small essence of a greater cosmic force. The angel’s profile, though recognizable, dissolves into this field, as if it were a form of light pulsating between matter and spirit. Here, the interval is not merely a concept—it is a vibration, a dialogue between the body’s electromagnetic fields and the light that traverses them.
Kloșka does not propose a dogmatic icon, but a meta-icon, where the figure of the angel becomes a pretext for exploring the tension between appearance and essence. The profile is carefully articulated, the diffuse halo emits an inner luminosity, while the chest—dense and layered—becomes the gravitational center of the composition. In this area, colors merge into a vibrant impasto, like a field in which the neural structure of the heart responds to cosmic impulses.
This work belongs to a series of original glosses on angels, which draw us out of accepted conventions and invite us to renegotiate the sacred and the eternal. “Angel Waiting” offers no answers, but invites us into a journey through volatile zones of mystery. The baroque richness of the profile suggests an imagined dialogue with one’s own guardian angel. The questions feel real; the answers remain equivocal.
The tension of the image juxtaposes vulnerable armors with radiant seraphs, in a spectacle where light seems to travel in an infinite loop, leaving behind vibrations that dissolve into ephemeral contours. The chromatic language oscillates between precious, almost Rembrandtian associations and tense metallic greys.
Ultimately, the balance between darkness and bursts of golden reflections recalls the cosmic duality of light and shadow. The overflowing imagination and nocturnal reverberations of poetry amplify the sonority of color and multiply the dramatic unfolding of forms. Not by chance, Ovidiu Kloșka seems to hear the music of the spheres in his attempt to paint meta-angels.
