Stroke and bite
Etchings in the graphic style draw with the needle and let the stroke in copper become a line that prints raised and velvety. Anyone who wants to buy graphic etchings for sale values illustration with depth.
The longer a line stays in the acid, the deeper it gets and the blacker it prints. That yields sheets with a lively range from whisper-thin contours to rich fields. Illustrative motifs use this for figures, ornaments, or lettering. The drawn quality is preserved, only fixed permanently in metal.

Making the fine visible
Etchings should be viewable up close, so they hang best at eye level. Good side light brings out the embossing of the plate mark. A white mat lets the drawing stand clear.
Questions before buying
Inquire about plate size, edition, and impression number. Etchings with ink show especially dense lines, and in the range under 500 euro small plates are common. A pencil signature at the lower edge is standard.
