Soft surfaces from hard material
A linocut can be gentle too: when color is applied thinly and printed over several times, an impressionism of surfaces results. Impressionist linocuts with ink are for sale to anyone who loves light and color.
Linoleum is a firm material, yet with several plates and translucent layers an impression of haze and light can be created. Each color is printed separately and lies slightly offset over the previous one. This very mix of coarse material and light impression gives such sheets their own charm and makes them a lovely counterpoint to clean lines.

Hanging between nature and living
The motifs often show landscapes, water and gardens and therefore suit rooms with plants and wood. A light frame supports the friendly tone. You should avoid direct sunlight.
Understanding multi-color printing
In multi-color prints, registration and ink coverage are marks of quality. Ask about edition, number and signature. Slight shifts between the color layers are no flaw but part of the hand-pulled impression.
