Traces of the hand in the image
The photo turns into a picture surface that the artist’s hand moves across, with color, scratches, layers. Manipulated gestural photography is for sale to anyone drawn to the interplay of capture and gesture.
Here photography is the starting point for a second, painterly act. Marks of color are applied to the print or traced at the computer. The photo stays legible beneath the gesture and gives the strokes a frame. That way it stays visible which gestures come from the camera and which from the later work.

Tension between motif and gesture
Where gesture and object meet, friction arises. Hang the piece freely, with distance from other works, and choose neutral light. A frame with depth allows the marks to reach beyond the edge of the picture.
Notes on material and original
Ask whether overpainting sits on the print by hand or was laid out digitally. That changes the character, also for the edition. Details on photo and metal help place the work. Pieces in the 1,000 to 2,000 euro range are possible too.
