Feeling becomes form
Expressionism in ink works with distortion, contrast, and strong feeling: dark lines, slanting perspectives, faces like masks. Expressionist paintings in ink from 500 to 1,000 euro are for sale here, with tension in every stroke.
Expressionism rejects fidelity to nature and gives feeling priority. Ink supports that with deep black and sharp contrasts. Faces are stretched, rooms tilt, and color enters in garish accents, if it comes at all.

Strong effect at home
Expressionist pictures demand room to breathe. Do not hang them too close to furniture or to busy wallpaper. A dark frame can underline the seriousness, a light one takes heaviness from the picture and makes the lines feel lighter.
What to look out for
At 500 to 1,000 euro, medium to larger works are more often found among originals. Check support material, signature, and dating. Also ask whether pigment ink was used, so that the black does not drift toward brown over the years.
