Traces of movement
Gestural pencil painting shows how fast and how hard a lead can work: smudges, cuts, pressed-in furrows. You can find expressive paintings with pencil from 500 to 1,000 euro for sale here if you want energy in gray.
The arm leads, the lead follows, and the paper records every change in pressure. On large sheets this turns into a dance of whirls and bundles of strokes. Combined with color or charcoal, the gesture gains warmth as well.

Right in the room
Formats in this price range can dominate a wall. A bright room with raking light then pays off, since furrows and the sheen of the graphite become visible. Check how the work is framed and fixed before you decide.
Making the furrows visible
Gestural drawings live on relief in the paper. A frame with depth and soft side light bring it out, while glass lying flat on top presses it down. Plan these details before the piece goes on the wall.
