Originals in this selection, Oil, Unspecified, under 500 euro.
Formats from 30 x 30 to 20 x 60 cm.
One medium, many faces
Oil paint is an all-rounder: it can be glazed thin, built up thick with a knife, and worked for a long time. Oil paintings under 500 euro for sale come on canvas, wood, board, or paper, and each ground changes the impression.
Oil can render skin, fabric, metal, and water convincingly, and equally pure color fields with no subject at all. What matters is the order of layers: painted lean to fat, the build-up stays stable and shines evenly. Glazing takes patience, since each layer has to set before the next.

Care from the start
An oil painting needs time to dry through and often a varnish after some months. Ask about that in the listing. Remove dust with a soft brush, and keep cleaners away from the paint. On wood, oil takes on a warm, slightly glossy tone.
The right spot
Do not hang oil paintings above a radiator or fireplace, or in very damp rooms. Smaller formats and painting board are typical for originals under 500 euro, which makes hanging simple. A note on when the picture was finished belongs in the listing.
