Substance for fleeting impressions
Impressionism and oil paint have always been allies, since oil gives light substance and atmosphere density. Impressionist oil paintings between 500 and 1,000 euro for sale come on canvas, wood, board, or paper.
A morning mist lying on water calls for softness and depth. Oil delivers both: transitions glide, paint stays airy, and light shines through layers. Alla prima works, painted in a single sitting, feel especially fresh.

Wood, board, or canvas
Impressionist oil is often made outdoors on painting board or small wood panels, since they are easy to carry. Canvas is larger and calmer, wood firmer and smoother. The support shapes brushwork and frame choice.
Plan for time and care
Oil takes months to dry completely. Ask when the picture was painted, whether it is varnished, and how it will be packed. Hang it away from radiators and steam, and it keeps its sheen for many years.
