Gluing, painting, covering
Collage and acrylic join on canvas into a picture of layers, edges and found pieces. Buying collages in acrylic on canvas for sale under 500 euro is a good way to a work with a sense of touch.
Paper scraps, maps, sheet music or photographs are applied to the canvas with acrylic medium and then painted over or glazed. The edges of the found pieces remain as fine relief ridges. The more layers, the more sculptural the surface looks. Collages on canvas often endure more than they appear to if they are well glued. Even so, do not bend the piece sharply or grip it by the edges. Hang it upright and away from moisture.

Effect in the room
Collages tell many stories in little space. In a hallway or above a desk they let you discover details. Side light accentuates the relief.
Check the durability
Ask how well the found pieces adhere and whether a protective coat was applied. Under 500 euro, mostly smaller canvases come into question, and they are easy to handle.
