Brush over photograph
When a photo supplies the ground and the brush rages over it, tension arises between document and gesture. You can find gestural mixed media with photo for sale here in the 1,000 to 2,000 euro range if you want pictures that have motif and movement at once.
Large gestures cover parts of the photo, others let it show through. The eye shifts between recognizable scene and abstract trace of color. Poured paint, splatters and wipes look especially bold on smooth photo surfaces. Often the gesture follows the motif or contradicts it: a sweep of color can give a face movement or strike it out. Both create a tension that only the original shows to the full.

In this range, originals often come in larger formats and with more elaborate interventions. Gestural photo overpaintings are technically demanding, because paint adheres to photo paper differently than to canvas.
Care
Ask whether the surface was sealed with varnish or protective coating, since paint on a photo can suffer from friction. A frame with spacing and dust protection makes sense.
