Breaks as design
Torn prints, brush traces and glued-in scraps: movement here comes from paint and just as much from broken edges in the material. You can find gestural mixed media works with photo for sale here to experience the liveliness of these collages.
When a photo is torn or cut, edges appear that the brush picks up. Gestural traces run across fracture lines and join the pieces into a new picture. One part of the picture usually stays recognizable, another vanishes under paint. This alternation between visible and covered keeps the eye moving and shows how much the intervention has changed the original photo.

Getting it on the wall
A moving work needs calm around it. Hang it with distance to other pictures, ideally on a wall without outlets and switches. Raking light shows the layering, frontal light smooths it.
Checking before buying
Folded or glued photo prints can come loose over time if the bond is wrong. Ask about adhesive, carrier board and sealing. Photos of the back show whether the work is built stably.
