Hand, arm, body
Expressive and gestural means you can see how fast, angry or tender the hand moved across the sheet. Gestural ink work in mixed media for sale shows traces of movement that stay readable right into the edges.
Gestural ink pieces are often made standing, with the whole arm. Wide brushes, sponges or bare fingers leave marks. Ink follows the motion, gathers in hollows and runs out in drops. That gives the sheet an energy that hardly translates in reproduction.

Big gesture, quiet frame
The wilder the sheet, the more restrained the frame should be. Plain white or natural wood gives the movement room. When hanging, remember that drip traces and edges belong to the work, and do not let a too-tight mat cut them off.
