Composition from fragments
Collage as technique and as style coincide here: everything is cut, torn, layered. You can buy collages in mixed media for sale from 2,000 to 5,000 euro here if composition from found pieces matters to you.
Good collage tells without explaining. A newspaper page beside a piece of silk, a sewing pattern beside the edge of a map: the connections are associative. With paint and drawing the whole gets a unifying tone. Over time you find connections you missed at first glance, an edge, a color, a scrap of lettering that returns elsewhere.

Think in space
Even if a collage looks flat, it has height. Paper edges throw shadows, fabrics stand out. Raking light makes that visible. Do not hang it in full sunlight, because paper and cloth discolor under constant radiation.
Hints before buying
Ask about support material and adhesive. Acid-free papers and archival glue are common at this price level, and artists often state them. A box frame protects the edges and lets the layers breathe.
