Originals in this selection, Expressive and gestural, Material Pastel, under 500 euro.
Handwriting in color
Pastel with a gestural stroke is loud and soft at once: broad chalk strokes sliding over each other, fields of color with a visible hand. Expressive pastel drawings under 500 euro for sale are a good way to step into this technique.
In gestural pastel the chalk lies on its side and the artist pulls with the whole arm. Red slides over blue, yellow breaks through, the paper flashes between layers. Without a preliminary drawing, a picture arises that looks more like movement than subject.

Well chosen for small budgets
In the tier under 500 euro you often find compact formats that work surprisingly well on a shelf or in an alcove. Hang the sheet behind glass and keep the mat generous so dust cannot migrate to the pane. Ask about fixing and paper type before you frame.
Buying notes
With pastel, paper, fixing and size count. Ask for the exact dimensions with margin so the frame fits. A signature at lower right and a date are common.
