Inspired by my journey to Giverny in spring 2026, I Knew You by the Light captures the sensation of sunlight passing through a garden in full bloom.
Loose, expressive brushwork brings together luminous yellow, green, turquoise, pink and violet, allowing flowers and foliage to shift between recognition and abstraction. A glowing passage of light draws the eye into the composition and gives the painting a feeling of warmth and depth.
This original oil painting is about recognising the people who illuminate our lives—their presence felt like sunlight even before they appear.
